If you have been by here once or twice, you know I sign everything with LNF. These letters stand for Love Never Fails.
About 15 years ago I was reading a book of 19th century sermons by various pastors. Included in that book were several letters by these Giants of the Faith. One was signed, Love Never Fails. I am sorry to say I do not remember the name of the book or the pastor.
But that simple ending to a letter has had a tremendous impact upon my life. Before you write me off as hopelessly naive, let me assure you I understand that human love can wax and wane. We are emotional creatures, as God made us to be. We get angry, we are selfish, and we seem to fall in and out of romantic love quite easily.
So the love I use in my signature quote and verse is not of the flawed human variety. It is the love God has for us. It never fails, never changes, always supports, and ever heals. His love, which is created through His Power and Grace, along with the miracle of our salvation, are our greatest gifts from the Almighty.
So when you see me sign off on my blog with LNF, or I answer a comment with LNF, I am wishing and praying for you the most precious gift God has to offer. I am hoping you will experience, as have I, the wondrous life-changing effect of His love.
LNF,
Grace
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a (New International Version)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
